6.1 – Range use and adaptability to the free range

In organic farms, broilers are offered a free range for expressing species behaviors that they cannot express indoors. However, there is a heterogeneity of range use and adaptability to the outdoor access among broilers strains, and even within broiler strains between individuals. The PPILOW project made advances in understanding Broiler behavior on the free range as studied in France and in Italy (6.1.1), its consequences of range use on multiperformance (6.1.2), in evaluating the adaptability of broilers to the free range UNIPG (6.1.3) and in proposing early predictors of range use (6.1.4)
