Structure

The PPILOW project is divided into 9 work packages with a central multi-actor participatory approach for co-creating, testing, validating and disseminating innovative solutions and tools allowing welfare improvement of pigs and poultry through change management of practitioners. The target systems are organic (guarantying feed organic origin, limited use of pharmaceutical drugs and specific rearing conditions) and low-input outdoor rearing systems, i.e. non-conventional and outdoor rearing systems with limited inputs (such as drug). As explained in Figure below, the participatory approach will be used to understand the barriers to welfare improvement and stakeholders’ expectations, co-create the strategies, agree on levers to test experimentally and on-farm, in order to engage since the beginning of the project the different end-users of PPILOW outputs.
