2023

  1. SlowFood and VFS organized, during their annual congress, a roundtable on “Assessing Risk in Context: Biosecurity Measures, Animal Welfare Requirements and Sustainability for Rural Farming” (open to the public) in Fano (Italy, 20th May 2023). It was important to disseminate One Welfare approach in the Italian veterinarian network (49 participants: veterinarians and directors of Italian Ministry of Public Health) and to focus a new great problem for the Animal Welfare in extensive pig farms not only in Italy but also in UE.
  2. SlowFood organized 3 technical days and trainings with the help of VSF in 2023 to disseminate between chain actors the content of the PPILOW project and widespread the PPILOW apps:
    • A workshop for poultry farmers (30 participants) in Malborghetto (Italy, 11th – 12th May 2023). Following the interest found among participating farmers, the Italian network of “slow” poultry farmers was founded. Also, UNIPG collaborated to the organisation of the workshop.
    • A workshop and field visit in Bazna (one of its International Presidia (Romania, 16th – 29th April 2023). Pietro Venezia and Anna Zuliani of VSF carried out training on animal welfare in which the app was also disseminated and the contents of the PPILOW project were communicated to a group of pig breeders and Slow Food members.
    • A workshop in Madia (Italy, 12th February 2023) aimed at a group of 20 pig farmers from its network (but open to all). Pietro Venezia of VSF carried out training on animal welfare in which the app was also disseminated and the contents of the PPILOW project were communicated to a 72 farmers, citizens and Slow Food members of Calabria.

2022

  1. Terra Madre in Turin (Italy, 26th September 2022) – meeting with veterinarians of VSF to prepare the trainings scheduled in 2023.
